How to choose the right partner?

The choice of your development partner is at least as important as the technology. These are the criteria:

Ask about code ownership. You must own everything that's built. No lock-in with the agency.

Ask about documentation. Good code is documented. If an agency skips this, you can't make independent adjustments later or bring in another party.

Ask about the testing process. How is it tested that the system does what it should? Manual testing is not sufficient for critical business systems.

Ask about the handover. What do you receive at the end of the project? Code, documentation, manuals, training?
